Role

Responsibilities

  • Develop computational and mathematical models to quantify and predict infectious disease risk.
  • Integrate high-resolution socio-ecological, environmental, and health data.
  • Develop spatial data-driven methods for public health surveillance and pandemic preparedness.
  • Support development of a real-time spatial AI system for early detection and risk prediction.
  • Collaborate with UK and international public health and university partners.

Qualifications

  • PhD in applied mathematics, statistics, engineering, computational biology, or a related discipline.
  • Specialisation relevant to infectious disease modelling, environmental health, public health, or global health.
  • Experience developing complex models with real-world data.
  • Strong R or Python programming skills and experience with version control such as Git.
  • Familiarity with spatial or statistical libraries such as INLA, PyMC, scikit-learn, or GeoPandas.
  • Peer-reviewed publication record and strong communication skills.
