Recommended email structure
- Use a precise subject line naming the research area and intended intake.
- Introduce your current position and relevant preparation in one or two sentences.
- Describe the research overlap using one specific project, paper or method.
- State the focused question you hope to investigate.
- Ask whether the supervisor expects to consider candidates and which formal route to follow.
Attachments
- A concise academic CV.
- A one-page research concept only when useful or requested.
- Transcript only when the official guidance asks for it.
- File names that contain your name and document type.
Avoid
- Mass-produced messages.
- Long autobiographical introductions.
- Requests for guaranteed admission or funding.
- Attaching large numbers of certificates.
- Repeated follow-ups within a few days.
